Dr. Diem seeks to make physics and engineering more accessible to the general public, especially her research in fusion energy and plasma science through interactive talks, hands ons workshops and in print as both a technical expert in the news and providing background information for news and television. She has been trained in science communication at the Alan Alda Science Communication Boot Camp at Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, NY.
In addition to individual public engagement events, she is the co-leader of the U.S. Fusion Outreach Team, a grassroots organization focused on reducing barriers to public engagement, co-launched the USFusionEnergy.org website and she’s leading the launch of an annual Fusion Energy Week to be celebrated around the world in 2024.
She routinely reviews articles, provide background information and quotes for significant fusion energy breakthroughs. For media inquiries, please email her at sjdiem(at)wisc.edu.
